WEE (Women’s Empowerment through Education)
WEE is a university-aged leadership and scholarship initiative created by former PETRI and Girls to Girls members who wanted to continue supporting students beyond high school. Focused on expanding access to higher education for young women in Kenya, WEE raises funds for university scholarships while building long-term relationships grounded in mentorship, encouragement, and shared responsibility.
Led by young women who grew up through SeaVuria’s student programs themselves, WEE reflects the lasting impact of global friendship, leadership, and the belief that education opens doors to opportunity, dignity, and choice.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to use education to establish friendships through global connections that inspire young women attending university in the United States and Kenya.

ABOUT US
In 2021, 4 college students previously involved in either Girls To Girls or PETRI came together to start WEE, an organization that fundraises to provide university scholarships to young women in Kenya. We were inspired by our involvement in SeaVuria in high school and wanted to continue this work in college to allow the same young women that we sponsored in high school the opportunity to further their education at the university level. Our members are spread out among different college campuses across the US where we work to fundraise for these scholarships, build global friendships, and educate ourselves and our community on the importance of women's education.

SCHOLARSHIPS
We fundraise to provide university scholarships to young women who previously received a SeaVuria high school scholarship. We commit to sponsoring each recipient for all years that they attend university while pursuing their degree.
EDUCATION
We work hard to educate ourselves and our community on the importance of women's education.
FRIENDSHIPS
We help connect young women globally, creating strong friendships. We do monthly zoom calls and stay in contact regularly through whatsapp. Many of our members believe that the best part of our organization is the connections they make.
